Kids Summer Reading Program
"Plant a Seed, Read!" starts June 1
The Kids Summer Reading Program is great way to keep growing and learning all summer long! Create, discover and explore at the library! Attend programs & events! Complete reading logs, a STEAM log or a Bingo card for fun, prizes, and entries into prize drawings.
The summer reading program starts Sunday, June 1 [for adults and teens, too] and runs through August 31.
Summer Reading Kick-off Event - Saturday, June 13, 10am-1pm
Kick-off your summer reading with a Summer Reading Program Party!
Festivies start at 10am for you to collect your reading and STEAM logs. Kids and teens will receive a free book to jump start their summer reading. Free seedling plants from Al's Nursery for children and teens while supllies last. Parents of young children, birth to 4 years, can sign up their child for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library!
At 11am be amazed by JuggleMania's Rhys Thomas' zany juggling feats! Cupcakes served after JuggleMania's performance for a sweet start to the 2026 Summer Reading Program.
What is the Summer Reading Program?
A reading and activity challenge for all ages with prizes, events and fun!
Who can participate?
All ages! Our program is for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, grade schoolers, home schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers, teens, young adults, adults, parents, caregivers, families, friends, neighbors, grandparents, extended family, and everyone in between!
What can I read?
Anything you want! Novels, comics, newpapers, magazines, board books, picture books, also you can listen to books and stories as well such as audiobooks or reading to (or listening to) others (pets included).
How do I sign-up?
Pick up (at the library) or print out your reading log, STEAM log and/or Bingo and you are ready to go. There is no sign-up.
So what do I do?
Choose how you want to play: Reading logs or STEAM logs or Bingo cards, or some or all three!
Read? Read! Read 20 minutes a day for 20 days and complete a reading log! For each reading log you turn in (limit of 4) get a free book and an entry into the prize drawings. Last day to turn in Reading Logs is Sunday, August 31.
How about some science and art? Do 10 STEAM activities and complete a STEAM log! Turn in a completed STEAM Log and receive a prize and an entry into the prize drawings. Last day to turn in STEAM Logs is Sunday, August 31.
Want a challenge? Pick up a Bingo Card and read books in the different genres and do the activities to make 5 squares in a row. When you have a Bingo, turn in the Bingo Card at the Library. Want even more of a challenge? Complete a Bingo Card Blackout. Do the activities for every square on the Bingo Card and turn the completed card in for extra entries in to the prize drawings.
When are the prize drawings?
The prize drawings will be held the first week of September and winners will be notified after.
What are the prizes?
Books and activities - previews of prizes will be available after June 1!
It all starts Monday, June 1!
