City Offers Free Sand and Sandbags to Residents

When ice and snow melt quickly over a short period of time, there is the potential for localized flooding that results from blocked storm drains.

To help prevent flooding and mitigate its effects, the City provides a free sandbag station for residents. Free sand and sandbags are provided; a limited number of shovels are also provided.

The City's free sandbag station is located in the Memorial Park Maintenance Yard near Murase Plaza (7930 SW Memorial Drive).

The City Public Works department encourages residents to clear snow, ice and other debris from residential storm drains to help prevent the potential for localized flooding or high water. For more information about the free sandbags, contact the City’s Public Works Department at 503-682-4092.

To report problems with flooding or downed trees, call the City’s Public Works 24-hour toll-free emergency line at 503-682-1231.
